1. Ngo Bao Chau was born in 1972 in an intellectual family in Ha Noi.
2. At the age of 15, he entered the mathematics specialization class at Ha Noi National University.
3. In grades 11 and 12, Chau participated in the 29th and the 30th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) and became the first Vietnamese student to win two IMO gold medals.
